Most patients above 18 years with stable eye power for at least a year, healthy corneas of adequate thickness, and no active eye disease are good candidates. A detailed pre-LASIK workup at Vista Eye Care confirms eligibility.
No. LASIK is performed under topical anaesthetic drops, so the procedure itself is painless. You may feel mild grittiness for a few hours afterward, which settles quickly.
Most patients resume normal daily activities within 24–48 hours. Full visual stabilisation typically takes about 2–4 weeks, with regular follow-up visits to monitor healing.
LASIK reshapes the cornea using a laser, while ICL involves implanting a lens inside the eye without removing corneal tissue. ICL/IPCL is often recommended for very high power or thinner corneas unsuitable for LASIK.
Glaucoma is often symptomless in early stages ("silent thief of sight"). Warning signs in advanced stages include gradual peripheral vision loss, eye pain, blurred vision and halos around lights. Regular eye pressure checks are the best defence.
